What’s going on here?
It’s a great question. Tiny little love stories? Sort of. I’m a romance writer who likes to make magical things happen for everyday heroines. I write love stories about women who are changing their own lives — getting unstuck, finding their voices, letting go of the nonsense. I write them from the perspective of a woman who has gotten unstuck, found her voice, and let go of a hell of a lot nonsense.
I’m a believer in big love through small gestures, so I’m always keeping an eye out for the small joyful thing.
What to expect…
Bite sized observations about the everyday. I wrote a newspaper column in this vein for a decade, and there’s so much about writing it that I miss. I’m going to start that up again here, but shorter. I don’t know what they’ll be about because I haven’t written them yet, but they’ll be less about world events and more about me trying to act cool at the dog park in my new neighborhood. (I might call that one “Middle School Never Dies.”)
Writing outtakes. Since 2020 I have been writing a book a year, which sometimes makes me feel like I’m in the novel writing Olympics. I won’t give you writing tips unless you ask, and I won’t bore you with the madness of my writing process (type, laugh, self-loathe, start again, hope for the best, panic, repeat). But I will share some nuggets along the way — like the time I tried to write a more explicit-than-usual sex scene and my editor commented, “I’m confused. Are they having sex? It’s hard to tell.”
Books I’m excited about. I read lots of different genres and often get a sneak peak into books that are about to be released. I’ll share what I’m liking and why.
That’s it. Promise to keep it at least this short. Also, it’s free. If you do subscribe and something piques your interest, please comment. I spend a lot of time in my head and would love to know what’s in yours.
Also, these are my books…
