Hi Annabel, enjoyed reading your Nora Ephron origin story. It reminded me of a great book gift I received this past Christmas. Knowing that Bel Canto is one of my favorite novels, my daughter bought me Bel Canto: The Annotated Version. Oh my goodness, what a wonderful book. Twenty years after its publication, Ann Patchett went through BC line by line, noting in the margins passages she still likes, sentences she would remove, what she was thinking, and why she made the choices she did. I am a better writer for having read this version. And it was a great reason (as if I needed one) to re-read Bel Canto.
I just read your comment, Denise, after posting mine—pretty much verbatim! My daughter-in-law also bought me the annotated version of Bel Canto since it's one of my favorite books.
You really have such a good energy that you make my day. I said yes to my partner and husband of forty years when he kissed me unexpectedly. I said yes to a tiny red corduroy jacket at a street sale and before long I had a tiny baby to put in it. These days I am saying yes to the spirits and guides who are there to help me.
What a gift! Wow! My sister is in town and last night we laughed our silent laugh over something silly until tears streamed down our faces. Nothing like it - nothing better. For the record you are a great gift giver. Eliza especially loves your bookmarks.😂 Love you.
I don’t remember the last thing that made me say “Yes, this!” But I distinctly remember that exact reaction shortly after starting “Nora Goes Off Script” …. that your voice was exactly what I needed at that moment 🩷
Bless you for every one of your wonderful, joyful books! And I can’t wait for my pre-ordered copy of “It’s a Love Story” to finally get here!!!
An ARC of Heartburn? Not to be Debbie Downer, but you will never again get a gift this good! And Nora Ephron herself would love the way you told this story.
I was at the SPCA in late 2018. I saw this little pup lying down and approached her kennel. She reached her paw out to me under the space in the door. As I extended my hand to touch her paw, I knew. Yes. This. She is lying on my lap as I type this. My love bug.
The last thing that made me say "Yes, This" was reading A Fatal Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum by Emma Southon - it's funny, fascinating and it changed the way I view the humans who lived in ancient Rome. It expanded my mind AND made me laugh.
This post is EVERYTHING. When it comes to Nora, everything is golden for me, and this gift would be my personal all-time nirvana. Treasure it for the rest of us, please!
It's a Love Story is truly fantastic--I absolutely devoured it and it's my favorite of yours thus far. Huge congratulations--I think it's going to be a huge summer read! xx
Dive by Olivia Dean (which became my most listened to song on Spotify last year), our now almost 14 year old dog in a pen with her siblings when she was a puppy(she stayed in the corner while they were all frenetic), Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books when I was a little girl and again when I read them to our daughters, and every Springsteen concert I’ve been to (spiritual experiences).
The last "yes, this" for me is the song "In A World Where We Work Out", by Flatland Calvary. Also, a re-watch of the fantastic movie Morning Glory, with Rachel McAdams.
Morning Glory is excellent!! Harrison Ford and Diane Keaton having a blast. Rachel McAdams falling in love with a job, not a guy (though Patrick Wilson is a nice side piece).
Annabel please come to Bryant Park to talk about your book. They have such a great program in the summer. On Wednesday’s from 12:30-1:45 Ilana Levine interviews authors in the outdoor reading room. It is a beautiful spot. I go every Wednesday and then go to see a broadway show at 2. I go early and get a ticket on the Tkts line for half price before I go to the park. It’s a great day in the city.
I did this once, Liz! It was when my first book came out (Nora) and it was pure magic. We talking to an audience who was eating lunch, tree rustling above us. I’ll never forget it, i’d love to go back

Bel Canto—me too!
Wow! I didn’t know this existed. Is this something a person can just go buy??
Yes! I discovered it at an indie bookstore in Huntington, L.I. It's also available at the library and online. Not sure where my daughter bought it.

Meg I love this so much

There’s nothing better in this world than a laugh till you cry. It’s like a deep cleanse. A bookmark is a close second 😂
My "yes, this" was reading "Nora Goes Off Script." In the middle of reading it, I realized that I wanted to write my first novel. Thank you for that!
Oh my gosh, yay!!!

Wow thank you Sharon. And especially for preordering🙏
I still have the copy of Heartburn I bought when it first came out in paperback; have reread it at least a dozen times.
Also: yes, yes, yes to calendar pages. Saved me more than once from having a character die before they’re born.
LOL!! It’s save me from having a twelve day week
What a gift! Love everything about this 💜

Ha!! Yes this was the peak!

Oh Heidi that just gave me the chills!!

That’s the best combination

Thank you so much Gabrielle!
You. You're my Nora Ephron. ♥️
Thank you that is the highest praise

I love this!! Especially the puppy
The calendar is everything!
No kidding, it's the only thing that helps me

Ohhhh those are new to me!
