I hit the jackpot with my neighbor Maggie and have 5 years of stories to prove it. But the best might be when I had the flu and my husband was out of town and Maggie whisked away my kids, then 2 and 4, kept them all afternoon, gave them dinner, and returned them at bedtime happy, bathed and in borrowed pajamas.

So excited to see the images from Sherry. We love our neighbors, Peggy and Becca across the street. (Tom passed away 2 years ago). They bring us limes from their trees and cards for our kids when they graduate. They are sweet and lovely, and always have something kind to say about how I look. (LOL) I usually want to run from my neighbors (the small talk of it all!) but Peggy and Becca are gems.

I love everything you write! And welcome to Florida, the state where there are ZERO rules BUT THE BEST WEATHER THIS TIME OF YEAR. I can't wait to see you (and read IALS). Love you.

My neighbour Jean (who has also moved away but is forever my neighbour) once came and dug me out of my house during a freak Irish snow storm that coincided with me having a vicious bout of pleurisy (very Victorian of me, I know!) Our front door was blocked by a ton of snow that had fallen off of our roof (taking the gutters with it and sending them through the back window of our car.) Jean handed me her 1 year old through the window and dug out all of the compacted snow, ice, and glass while I sat by the fire and did puzzles and watched the Wiggles with the toddlers.

Neighbour FOREVER!

"There are no rules in Florida": Truer words were never written. Welcome to the sunny South! My (almost 20 yr old) daughter goes to USF in Tampa, but don't ever go to her to borrow food as the state of her groceries is always a bit suspect.

Once my neighbor came over after 11pm to help get an opossum out of my chicken coop without even batting an eye. The chicks were scattered about the yard at that point and he stayed and help me gather them up in a bucket to return them to the coop. A real gem!

Ok, but how are you going to get invited to the dog park sleepover from Ft. Lauderdale??? (Also, on a neighbourly note, I can't wait to read IALS and also pop a couple of copies in my local little free libraries because I know it's going to be too good not to share!)

That is exceptionally neighborly of you, thank you so much! And about that sleepover, what if this move is my way to play hard to get? So I’ll show up in May and they’ll have totally missed me and my weird dog??

Definitely preordered your new book. It’s one of the 2025 things I’m most looking forward to! Hopeful to see a book event in Los Angeles or perhaps somewhere along the California coast. I think we’re neighborly people out here 🤗

I love this! I still call my former next door neighbor (who now lives in Maine and I live in PA) my neighbor. I also call my teenage babysitter, my babysitter and I am 50. Enjoy FL!

Having special neighbors is like finding a cozy blanket. They are simply the best and I always feel like they are a pot of gold found at the bottom of a rainbow. Such a treasure and never to be taken for granted. ☺️
